In preparation for this summer’s Power Paddle to Puyallup 2018 – “Honoring Our Medicine” – community members turned out to take part in the awakening of the canoes ceremony. Song and dance practice took place afterward in the Spirit House.
“It was beautiful to see the participation from our youth, our elders, and everyone in between as our community came together to sing and pray for our canoes and community,” said Tribal Councilman David Bean. “I am thankful for our Canoe Family and all the work they do, day in and day out, to care for our canoes and canoe family.”
