PUYALLUP POWWOW 2018 Families, youth, elders and everyone in between gather to celebrate Puyallup culture and indigenous pride

During the powwow, Puyallup Tribal Veterans honored one of their own brothers in service – former Army infantryman Josh Anderson. Josh (Blackfoot and married to a Puyallup tribal member) was wounded in action in Iraq and awarded the Purple Heart, but someone dropped the ball and he never received the medal. More red tape held up the medal from arriving in time to be presented to Josh at the powwow, but Puyallup Tribal Vets didn’t let that stop them – they wrapped Josh with a blanket and an honor song was played for him while his family, friends and fellow veterans danced in the circle.
