Making great strides toward creating active lifestyles and better health for our students!
Every Thursday from 3:30-5 p.m. you will find more than 100 of our fourth through sixth grade “student-athletes” participating in various kinds of athletic activities. These activities include Volleyball, Flag Football, Cross Country, Track and Field, Cheerleading, Jump Rope Team, and Racquet Games (Pickle Ball, Badminton, and Ping Pong). Coaching these activities are many of our Chief Leschi teaching staff. Although each Thursday is a little bit longer for each “coach,” the rewards for the extra time spent are vast! The increased positive relationships being built are strengthening our already powerful teaching environments. The stronger relationships between staff and students are visible throughout the school day. Smiles and laughter are endless! Student to student interactions are improving and can be seen especially in Physical Education, at recess, and other common area times. Also, improvement in basic fundamental skills of each sport or activity is obvious just by watching the “student-athletes” week to week. Whether it is with the student who is already an experienced player or a student who has never played any kind of organized sport, improvements in both students are truly awesome! Read more...
