
Congratulations Gabriella Tirado
Senior volleyball standout, Gabriella Tirado was named to the All State Volleyball Team last week. The All State Volleyball Tournament will take place at Fife High School July 16-18. Gabriella Tirado was also a Seatac League Volleyball All Star and a nominee for the Tacoma Athletic Commission Athlete of the Week in December and February. Gabby maintains at 3.2 GPA and in addition to volleyball she has played four years of basketball and was honored this year to serve as the Chief Leschi Daffodil princess. Read more...
On April 27, Chief Leschi Middle School/High School, in conjunction with Riverside Fire Department, Puyallup Tribal Police Department, and Milton Fire Department, conducted a mock Drunk Driving Drill for the junior and senior classes as part of the prom promise and safe schools initiative. During the drill, the Fire Department set up a crash scene as if it was a real life scenario. They responded to the scene complete with a rescue helicopter and ambulance. Several students from the high school leadership class played the role of crash victims (these students had been selected prior to the event and were coached and prepped, even being made up to look injured), and eventually after the scene had been cleared, all students headed to the library for a question and answer session with the Riverside Fire Department. Tribal youth basketball planned for summer

On April 17, 23 Chief Leschi 6th-grade students brought their sleeping bags, camping clothes and back packs to school for their second weekend escape of the year. They were joined by 11 high school and college students who have been part of the GREAT program to mentor them. Read more...

State Culinary Competition Invitational
Chief Leschi sent two teams to state competition on March 8 this year. The culinary team started in November finding recipes, testing them, choosing a menu to perfect, practicing intricate knife skills and finally taking all their hard work to a three-hour competition. Teamwork and timing were critical to their great showing. They competed against 22 other larger schools in the state and were complimented on their menu and knife skills by the judges, who were teachers in culinary schools and owners of restaurants like the Space Needle.
