Cushman Cemetery recently completed a long awaited addition to its graveyard services.
The historic burial site now has a completed columbarium, which can respectably store more than 900 cinerary urns that contain the remains of deceased members of the Puyallup Tribal community.
Use of the columbarium is available at no charge, however modifications or personalization of each individual niche door will be at the expense of the family.
The columbarium has been in the works for several years, with construction beginning in 2011. The structure was completed in December and is now open for use.
Cemetery manager Don Finley noted that the columbarium is an essential component to the Cushman burial site, offering families more options on how to remember their loved ones. Use of the columbarium niches will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
