Warrior wrestler currently ranked 6th in state

KUDRIN-MELLO

Cheyenne Kudrin-Mello is wrestling in only his second year of the sport. Last year he was a state participant wrestling at 103 pounds. His wrestling career took off to a rocky start, losing his first five matches. He came on strong at the end of last year to take second at districts and third at the regional tournament to qualify for state. He caught the wrestling bug, and he participated in a couple of freestyle wrestling tournaments over the summer.

This year, Cheyenne Kudrin-Mello has shown some improvement in his wrestling. This year he is wrestling up a weight class at 112 pounds. He has placed second at an Emerald Ridge tournament, second at a Foss tournament, and second at the Bash at the Beach tournament, each time getting two victories with one defeat. He currently holds and 8-5 record, with three of his losses coming against wrestlers from bigger schools. His goals this year are to place in the top tree at the regional tournament for the western side of the state to qualify for state again. He is currently ranked on http://www.washingtonwrestlingreport.com for the 2B wrestlers at sixth place.

Our warrior wrestling team has been young and small this year. We are featuring eight wrestlers, with five returning from last year. Our three first year wrestlers are: Hector Rendon (ninth grade), Damien Allman (11th grade) and Charles Arabia (12th grade). Returning wrestlers are Cheyenne Kudrin-Mello (10th grade), Craig Daniels (12th grade), Chris Sampson (11th grade), Swayla Duenas (10th grade) and Alex Barowsky (10th grade). We have a few more matches to wrestle in January before we start our post-season tournaments in February.
