TRIBAL COUNCIL CHAIRMAN HERMAN DILLON SWEARS SYLVIA MILLER INTO OFFICE JUNE 11.

Tribal member Sylvia Miller received the most votes in the June 6 general election for Tribal Council, replacing incumbent Henry John.

Sylvia Miller, most recently serving as executive administrative assistant for the Tribe, has worked in many departments of the Tribe, including youth programs, fisheries and law enforcement. She is a certified diver, and has sat on the school board, board of trustees, health authority and land settlement boards.

Syliva Miller served as a council member for two terms from 2001 to 2007. Her current goal on council is to protect the path laid by the ancestors of the Tribe “so that my children and your children may have the same opportunity to go down that path and many other paths that will be created for them with guidance from our ancestors,” Sylvia Miller said. “I would like to thank (the membership) for this opportunity to serve...the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. I am truly honored.”
