‘School Days Healthy Ways’ event success

The Health Fair, geared at getting Puyallup Tribal youth of all ages prepped for a healthy school year included the following activities:

- Healthy lunch packing education with free

    lunch boxes for youth

- Dental kits provided to each child (tooth

       brushes, floss)

- Mental Health education on under and over

    diagnosing of school age children provided

    to all attendees

-    Provided drug and alcohol education

     focused on the dangers of recreational use

    (alcohol poisoning, pills parties, etc.) to

    participants

-    Sports injury prevention education pro-

    vided to participants

-    Drug identification education including take-

    home identification charts

-    Tobacco prevention education provided to

    all participants

-    Expert balloon twisting including a few lessons

    for future twisters in training

- 65 dental screenings and fluoride brushes

- 16 sports physicals

- 39 well child physicals

-    30 youth completed lead screening

-    MRSA and hand washing education

- Screenings for depression were provided

-    Sexually transmitted disease and HPV educa-

    tion
