Chief Leschi Middle/High School has readied for the upcoming 2008-2009 school year. This year continues our emphasis on literacy and math, along with maintaining a safe, civil and productive school. Staff in all content areas have been reviewing data and will make some adjustments instructionally supporting our efforts to improve test scores. We want to encourage all students and parents to inquire about WASL test results and understand the process as their student progresses towards graduation.
We look forward to offering a challenging and rewarding school year. Parents and guardians please do not hesitate to contact the office to meet with counselors, teachers or administration. This year the middle/high school will be having its second “Back to School Night.” This evening will give students a chance to pick up their class schedule prior to the beginning of the year. We encourage the families and students of the new incoming seventh-grade to tour the school and view a presentation given by Assistant Principal Jennifer Pierce and Principal Lucy Dafoe. This is also a good time for brand new students to familiarize themselves with Chief Leschi Schools. Join us as counselors will be on hand to explain classes and the Building Leadership Team will be present to explain behavioral expectations of the building. Also present will be Officer Gerking representing G.R.E.A.T., Audrey Adams and coaches for athletics and other teachers hoping to meet you and your family. The Back to School Night will be on Aug. 27 from 5:30-7 p.m.
A letter will be sent to each student outlining some school rule changes and reminders for student dress as we get close to the opening day of school. We encourage all students to assist us in maintaining a rigorous academic environment as we Continue the Journey in 2008-2009. The first day of school is Sept. 2.
